Buying a new home, designed room by room from your sofa.
House by Urban Splash builds modular homes in a factory, which means buyers can choose far more than a kitchen worktop. Layouts, finishes and even a rooftop terrace are all options. The sales experience had to make that freedom feel simple, not overwhelming.
I was at Tokyo Digital, working in collaboration with Smiling Wolf, and together we built one connected platform: a new website, a set of digital sales tools and a real-time configurator. Buyers design their home in 3D, save it, and every enquiry and design goes straight into Salesforce for the sales team. The 3D modelling and pixel streaming came from SOMEWHERE, a Liverpool agency.
The configurator
Pick a plot on the site plan, then build the home around you. Choose loft or garden living, floor plans and finishes, and watch a 3D cutaway of the house update as you go. When it's right, save the design and get in touch. The sales team picks it up with every choice already on file. The 3D models and pixel streaming, which render the house in the cloud and stream it live to any device, were built by SOMEWHERE in Liverpool.
My role
As Lead Producer and Tech Lead, I owned delivery from first workshop to launch. That meant shaping the technical architecture and the Salesforce integration, and keeping Urban Splash, Tokyo Digital, Smiling Wolf and SOMEWHERE moving as one team. It also meant making sure a complex product shipped feeling effortless.
Modular, by design
The platform launched alongside Row House, a new modular home by Liverpool architects shedkm and the first of around 350 homes at East Float, Wirral Waters, a joint venture with Peel L&P. It was a homecoming for Urban Splash, which started out in Merseyside almost three decades earlier.
